FieldLink Mobile Communications Trailer

A mobile communications trailer is a self-contained, towable unit that provides voice, data, and network connectivity in remote locations, emergency situations, or temporary worksites where fixed infrastructure is unavailable or impractical. Also referred to as a Cell on Wheels (COW) or Solar Cell on Wheels (SCOW), these units combine standalone solar power with communications hardware and a telescopic mast to seed or extend a site communications network rapidly and without civil works.

RPEQ stands for Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland. An RPEQ certification means the design has been assessed and signed off by a professionally registered engineer against specific Australian engineering standards. For a mobile communications trailer, this covers both mechanical integrity (structural load, wind resistance, towing, and deployment) and electrical safety (wiring, isolation, and low-voltage systems). Most mining and resources sites in Queensland require RPEQ certification before any new plant or equipment can be brought on site. FieldLink holds dual RPEQ certification across both mechanical and electrical disciplines, meeting Australian Standards including AS 3000, AS/NZS 1170.2, and AS 4024.1503.

FieldLink is designed for single-operator deployment in under 10 minutes. The 8.5-metre mast is electrically actuated, and an optional 10-metre tethered remote control allows the operator to raise the mast from outside the drop zone. Four heavy-duty stabiliser legs and an automatic latching mechanism when the mast is lowered mean setup and pack-down are straightforward, even on uneven terrain.

The FieldLink 2S features a two-panel solar array, suited to lighter connectivity loads or sites where towing weight and footprint need to be minimised. The FieldLink 4S Pro features a four-panel array delivering up to 1,840W of solar output paired with up to 30.72kWh of battery storage, suited to high-draw, multi-device networking setups requiring extended autonomy in remote environments.
